Kinlochleven community workshops...

In 2012 I had the great pleasure of being a part of the creation of a new sculpture trail in Kinlochleven, in the Highlands of Scotland. For a week in August we worked with the Lochaber fisheries trust helping to deliver three community workshops.

The workshops were part of the wider project to creating a sculpture trail in the community of Kinlochleven. The trail is along the salmon river which passes through the town, which is also part of the West Highland Way.

The art workshops followed on from a series of biology workshops, run by the trust in local schools, educating pupils about Salmon, their lifecycle and the rivers they inhabit.

The first art workshop was run with the secondary school pupils, who created a mass of driftwood fish to be hung amongst the trees along the trail. Later in the week we worked at the primary school and helped the children to design and create two beautiful fish mosaics, which will be placed on top of two picnic tables on the riverside. Then last but not least, at the weekend a community workshop was run for adults carving a series of slate stepping stones....
